ABOUT:
The international team at The Common believe that stories have the ability to spark empathy, open minds and change hearts. Every day we tell countless stories to our family members at home, to a friend on the street or to a colleague in the office. Stories connect us. They invite others to stop, listen and say, “Wow, me too!” We are committed to creating the space for people to come together and find common ground.

Mikkel Øhlenschlæger Andersen
Mikkel first discovered his passion for storytelling as an intern at The Moth in New York in 2008. Raised on the small island of Ærø in the southern part of Denmark, Mikkel was captivated by the tall tales and sailor stories, sparking a lifelong fascination with the art of storytelling. Before moving to New York, he worked in the film and TV industry, driven by the desire to create stories. He later found a way to combine his love for storytelling and travel by working as a tour leader, sharing stories of the world with Danish travelers. During this time, he also organized a three-day storytelling event as part of Denmark's largest music festival, Roskilde Festival.
In addition to his work in storytelling, Mikkel founded a small (tiny) publishing house where he published a portrait book and a children's book by his son Otto, who became Denmark's youngest author at the age of five. Now based in Copenhagen, Mikkel is deeply involved in a variety of projects and finds great fulfillment in crafting memorable experiences for others, a mission he continues to pursue with The Common.

Jennifer’s academic background reflects her multifaceted interests and commitment to both creativity and public service.
